This is completely off topic but for years, fast food corporations have desired to have an icon that wasn’t temporal. Wendy’s has that obnoxious little red-headed girl with pig-tails. McDonalds has Ronald, who is older than I am but looks the same age as when he first showed up. Arby’s has the oven mit with Tom Arnold’s voice. KFC moved from a real Colonel to a cartoon version. Burger King, years ago, had, well, the Burger King. These images don’t age and they never die. The company’s can use them as long as they like.
But, Burger King has now revived the “King” but with a twist: a head that is three times larger than life. I gotta ask…the new “king” in the new Burger King commercials is really freakin’ me out. How about you?
And another thing, it’s also freakin’ me out that Darius Rucker (lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish) is dressed like Porter Waggoner and singing about a Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch sandwich. Surely he’s not that down on his luck.
Oh, and one more thing…it’s really freakin’ me out that I can’t get that damned Tendercrisp Bacon Cheddar Ranch song out of my head.
OK, enough of my off-topic rant. Back to GTD. We now return control of your television set back to you… and if you don't remember which TV show that line came from, it's really freakin' me out!
