I've said more than once on this blog that I love Yahoo! and most of its services. I subscribe to premium services, such as the enhanced email, increased storage in the briefcase, groups, Yahoo! by phone, and games. I find their email fits my needs exactly. I run my personal email and my Open Loops email through Yahoo!. Here are a few email enhancements that make it work for me:
Quickbuilder - Allow your email to accumulate. File them away in your personal folders or leave them in your inbox. Then with a click of a button, Yahoo! searches all your emails and adds them to your address book. Simple.
Instalist - Need to send an email to a group? Go ahead and address the email to all the members your group (up to 100 per email). After it's sent, Yahoo! will ask if you'd like to make all the addressees to which you just sent the email a group. If you say yes, Yahoo! will group the addresses and allow you to name the group. This is a lot easier than creating the group in your address book first, populating it, and then addressing the email.
Disposable Addys - Need to give an email address, but concerned about SPAM? You can create a disposable address to use. Use it until SPAM starts coming in and then trash the address. No more SPAM! Then, create another disposable address and begin again! This is not simply getting a new email address. You keep your same address but Yahoo! lets you add additional addresses (the throw-aways) that forward to your primary one. Your primary address remains spamless while your throw-aways attract the spam. When it does, get rid of it. You still have your original Yahoo! address and you get another throw-away that forwards to your original account.
Yahoo! by Phone - Call an 800 # and get your email read to you over the phone.
Some of the enhancements are linked to their premium email services but are well worth the nominal price. I have email addresses with many different web sites, but find I use Yahoo! more consistently when dependability is a key issue.
